ob Title: Brass Specialist

Reports to: HS/MS Head Band Director

Calendar: 1-2 times per month

Hours per Week: 1-2 hours every 3-4 weeks

Dept./School: High School and Middle School Campuses

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE

As an integral part of the DSISD Band staff, Woodwind/Brass Specialist assists designing and implementing a comprehensive grade 6-12 Woodwind/Brass pedagogy program in conjunction with the HS and MS Director of Bands.

Experience:

Extensive experience beginning through early development of young wind players

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Essential Functions

  1. Assist in implementing instrumental pedagogy.
  2. Work with both classes and small groups
  3. Prepare specialized lessons specific to instrument needs

 

Other

  1. Comply with policies and regulations established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
  2. Maintain confidentiality regarding student and coworker information and as required by FERPA.
  3. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Tools/Equipment Used:  metronome, personal instrument, digimet

Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking/playing instrument

Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds)

Environment: Work inside; frequent exposure to noise. 

 

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
