PRIMARY PURPOSE

Under moderate supervision, coordinate the collection and reporting of district Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) data. Develop and train campus and department personnel on current student data collection requirements, data definitions and job procedures.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Experience:

2 years of experience collecting and entering data

5 years of experience in a school district PEIMS role preferred

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Records and Reports

  1. Coordinate the collection, integration, and formatting of all data required for PEIMS submissions according to Texas Education Agency PEIMS Data Standards.
  2. Work cooperatively with campuses and appropriate central office staff to collect, organize, and format data required to submit district PEIMS data according to prescribed state deadlines.
  3. Develop data processing procedures for PEIMS and student attendance accounting applications.
  4. Run edits, reports, and verification checks on data to ensure accuracy of information. Distribute edits and reports to appropriate staff for analysis, verification, and correction.
  5. Submit complete and accurate PEIMS data in Texas Education Agency (TEA)-prescribed format to Education Service Center (ESC) for processing using computer terminal or personal computer.
  6. Verify data submitted to TEA and submit corrections in a timely manner.
  7. Respond to any data inquiries from the state regarding PEIMS.
  8. Review and modify District course listing to meet PEIMS requirements.

Training and Technical Support

  1. Provide training and support to campuses and to central office staff responsible for processing PEIMS data.
  2. Assist with interviewing and recommending new PEIMs staff, including registrars, PEIMS analysts and attendance clerks.
  3. Receive PEIMS-related information from ESC and TEA, attend all regional PEIMS workshops, and disseminate information to other staff in a timely manner, including updates to PEIMS Data Standards.
  4. Maintain security for PEIMS, TSDS, and Edits + for all campuses.

Other

  1. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy.
  2. Initiate necessary changes to District policy to meet state guideline changes in student attendance.
  3. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
  4. Assign Unique IDs for all employees and students on a daily basis at the beginning of school and then weekly after that time. Export from Skyward to TEA and import from TEA to Skyward.
  5. Submit a student PET (Person Enrollment Tracking) file on a weekly basis. Create export file of student data to be uploaded to TEA’s state student database for additions and comparison.

Maintain and update the District’s PID (Person Identification Database) file for employees and students.

Supervise and evaluate the work of district PEIMS staff.
