Job Title: Marching Band Technician

Reports to: Head Band Director

Calendar: Late-July – Oct/Nov

Hours per Week: 12 – 20

Dept./School: High School Campus

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE

As an integral part of the marching band staff, Marching Band Technician assists in implementing a visual/musical technique program in conjunction with the Visual Coordinator and Director of Bands.

Experience:

Extensive experience in the marching arts (DCI, WGI, college marching band, etc.)

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

  1. Assist in implementing marching/music technique in a full ensemble and sectional setting.
  2. Assist in teaching and cleaning drill responsibilities.
  3. Attend all competitions as needed by the Director of Bands.
  4. Attend all rehearsals during the course of the season as agreed upon by Director of Bands.
  5. Attend summer band rehearsals. Dates and times determined by Director of Bands.

Other

  1. Comply with policies and regulations established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
  2. Maintain confidentiality regarding student and coworker information and as required by FERPA.
  3. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Tools/Equipment Used: Dr. Beat, metronome, Tonal Energy app, UDB app

Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking/marching

Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds)

Environment: Work outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures (hot, cold, and inclement weather), humidity, and prolonged sunlight; work on uneven or slippery surfaces; frequent exposure to noise. Occasional statewide and overnight travel

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
